Pediatric and Primary Care Providers: New Process for Prescribing Specialized Formulas

Effective July 1, 2026, the MO HealthNet Division (MHD) is now the primary payer for medically necessary specialized infant formulas (such as elemental, amino-acid based, or metabolic formulas). Previously, these were handled by Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. WIC will now only pay for standard formulas or act as a temporary safety net.

Join the Missouri Child Psychiatry Access Project (MO-CPAP) on May 12th, 2026, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm for a session training on Aggression Management with Jessica Popielarz, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC. This training is designed for both prescribing and non-prescribing pediatric health care and social service professionals. The session will cover strategies to support children and adolescents who are experiencing aggression.

As a follow up to this exciting launch, MHD will be hosting a webinar on February 1, 2024. The webinar will include a video of the launch event and its dynamic speakers, as well as an interactive discussion regarding how to bill for Group Prenatal Care and other questions providers may have on this benefit.
