Regional Older Youth Advancement of Life Skills (ROYALS) Unit Expansion

The ROYALS unit serves youth 16-20 years old, who do not have a goal of reunification, with intense life skills and exit planning case management.

Vision: To help youth make the transition to independence through services geared toward essential life skills development, meaningful adult relationships, youth empowerment, and community involvement.

April

  • Held interviews for worker positions
  • Scheduled training for new ROYALS team members 
  • Scheduled Statewide meeting of all ROYALS team members to assure alignment of policy and practice

May

  • Statewide meeting of all ROYALS team members to ensure alignment of policy and practice held
  • All ROYALS training occurred for both workers and supervisors
  • New ROYALS workers shadowed existing workers

June

  • Review of the LS-1 list to determine eligible youth who should be referred
  • Statewide referrals began coming in and are assigned to new workers
  • Continued outreach and training of staff continues
