Good news! The MO HealthNet Division (MHD) Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Program provides eligible MO HealthNet participants with free rides to their scheduled appointments. If a friend can drive them, the program can even reimburse mileage.
The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) is administered by MO HealthNet and Medicare to provide comprehensive health care, social, recreational, and wellness services to its participants. One of the main goals of PACE is to allow older adults to live safely in their homes instead of nursing facilities. As of May 3, 2024, PACE organizations are active in St. Louis and Kansas City, with a new PACE organization coming to the Springfield area later this year.
The MO HealthNet Division (MHD) Education and Training Unit has prepared a resource regarding Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT).
The increased cost of insurance rates is affecting NEMT vendors across all Missouri geographical areas.
MO HealthNet is aware of this issue and is working with NEMT vendors to explore options to ensure MO HealthNet participants have transportation to their appointments.
We ask our MO HealthNet enrolled providers to please be cognizant of this and we encourage you to not unnecessarily penalize MO HealthNet participants should they have to cancel or are “no shows” for scheduled appointments due to lack of transportation.
