Effective October 1, 2023, MHD will no longer approve retroactive prior authorization (PA) requests for residential (Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP), non-QRTP, nonInstitution for Mental Disease (IMD) QRTP), and treatment foster care (TFC) services (TFC Level 1 and TFC Level 2).
MHD advises providers with outstanding PA requests for residential or TFC services for fee-forservice members, to fax the request for review to (573) 659-0207 by September 29, 2023. As noted in the PA Process-Residential Treatment and Treatment Foster Care provider bulletin effective July 1, 2023, providers may submit authorization request 10 calendar days prior to the requested date of admission.
Effective October 1, 2022, MHD began requiring PA for residential and TFC services. For guidance on billing services from October 1, 2022 to July 1, 2023, depending on your facility’s IMD status, refer to previously posted provider bulletins.
