Missouri Community Engagement Requirements Screening Tool

The purpose of this tool is to help you understand whether you may need to meet Missouri Community Engagement Requirements to get or keep MO HealthNet coverage through the Adult Expansion Group. These requirements are part of H.R. 1 and are scheduled to begin Jan. 1, 2027.

Based on your answers, this tool will tell you whether you may not need to meet the requirements, may already meet the requirements, or may need to take action. This tool does not make an official eligibility decision. Family Support Division (FSD) will make the official decision about your MO HealthNet coverage.

NOTE: If more than one adult in your household wants to check whether these requirements may apply, answer the questions for one person at a time. Use the “Reset Form” button to start again for another person.

Step 1
Are you between the ages of 19 and 64?
Step 2
Do you currently have MO HealthNet coverage, or are you applying for MO HealthNet coverage?
Step 3
Is your MO HealthNet coverage through the Adult Expansion Group?
The Missouri Medicaid Adult Expansion Group is a coverage category under MO HealthNet that provides health insurance to low-income adults aged 19 to 64.
Step 4
Are you pregnant or currently eligible for postpartum MO HealthNet coverage?
Step 5
Are you enrolled in Medicare Part A or Medicare Part B?
Medicare Part A helps cover facility-based inpatient care and specialized short-term care services. Medicaid Part B helps cover medically necessary outpatient medical services, doctor visits, and preventive care. Visit Medicare.Gov for more information.
Step 6
Do any of these describe you?

Activity Questions

The next question asks about activities that may count toward Community Engagement Requirements. If you are applying for MO HealthNet on or after Jan. 1, 2027, answer based on the month before you apply, unless FSD asks you about a different period. If you are renewing coverage, answer based on any month in your current review period.

Step 7
During the month(s) being reviewed, did you do any of the following?

Results

These requirements likely do not apply based on your answers.

Based on your answers, Missouri Community Engagement Requirements likely do not apply to you. These requirements are for some adults ages 19 through 64 who have or are applying for certain MO HealthNet coverage, including the Adult Expansion Group.

This tool is for information only. If you receive a letter from FSD, read it carefully and respond by the date listed. FSD will make the official decision about your MO HealthNet eligibility.

You may not need to meet Community Engagement Requirements.

Based on your answers, you may not need to meet Missouri Community Engagement Requirements. Some people do not have to meet these requirements because of their age, coverage category, pregnancy or postpartum status, Medicare status, foster care history, tribal status, caregiving responsibilities, disability or medical condition, treatment participation, public institution status, or participation in certain SNAP or Temporary Assistance work-related requirements.

FSD may be able to verify this using information it already has. FSD may also ask you for more information. If you receive a letter from FSD, respond by the date listed.

You may meet Community Engagement Requirements

Based on your answers, you may meet Missouri Community Engagement Requirements for the month being reviewed. Activities that may count include work, community service, work program participation, school or training, a combination of these activities, or income that meets the federal minimum wage calculation.

Keep records of your hours, income, school enrollment, or other activity. FSD may be able to verify this using information it already has, but FSD may ask you for more information.

You may need to take action

Based on your answers, you may need to take action to meet Missouri Community Engagement Requirements. You may be able to meet the requirements by working, doing community service, participating in a work program, attending school or training, combining qualifying activities, or meeting the income standard for the month being reviewed.

If you think an exclusion applies to you, or if you already completed qualifying activities, report that information to FSD when asked. If you receive a letter from FSD, respond by the date listed. If FSD cannot verify that you meet the requirement or that an exclusion applies, your MO HealthNet coverage could be affected after required notice and response time.

We need more information to know whether this may apply to you

Based on your answers, this tool cannot tell whether Missouri Community Engagement Requirements may apply to you. This may happen if you are not sure about your MO HealthNet coverage group, Medicare status, exclusion status, or activity information.

Check any letter you receive from FSD, keep your contact information updated, and contact FSD if you need help understanding what to do next. This tool is for information only. FSD will make the official decision about your MO HealthNet eligibility.
